ChristchurchNZ

campaign creative

Project Overview
ChristchurchNZ approached me to create the design identity and promotional assets for Poppin’ at the Plaza, a youth-focused activation series in the heart of Christchurch CBD. The programme needed a visual language that would energise the campaign, connect with a younger audience, and work seamlessly across print, digital, and social media platforms.

    • Develop a youthful, fun, and modern design direction that avoided being patronising while still appealing to under-18s.

    • Deliver a suite of flexible assets (print, social tiles, EDM graphics, and banners) to promote daily activations at Library Plaza.

    • Ensure the creative was bright, bold, and consistent with ChristchurchNZ’s brand guidelines while standing out as its own mini-campaign.

    • Designed a vibrant visual identity that captured the energy of the programme — playful shapes, bold typography, and a contemporary colour palette designed to resonate with youth.

    • Created multi-format promotional assets, including:

      • Social media tiles for Facebook and Instagram (general and weekly versions)

      • EDM graphics for newsletters

      • A0 vinyl signage and plaza noticeboard designs

      • Website banners for christchurchnz.com

    • Built assets with flexibility in mind so the ChristchurchNZ team could easily update weekly activations.

    • Balanced a modern, urban look with accessibility, ensuring designs felt inclusive for both teens and families.

    • A clear, cohesive campaign identity that brought Library Plaza to life online and on site.

    • Increased engagement with the youth demographic — the visual tone struck the right balance of fun and modern without feeling “forced.”

    • Delivered on time across multiple formats, giving ChristchurchNZ a full toolkit of creative assets ready to roll out for the month-long activation.

    • Contributed to ChristchurchNZ’s wider goal of testing long-term activation strategies for the Central City.
